Bio:

My project focuses on processes of remembering: on how we forget and how we remember. I explore a poetry that is found in the attempts to retrieve memories. Memories are reconstructions of our lives. They are selective and change over time. There is no such thing as an objective memory. In the reconstruction of remembering someone we love, we unconsciously construct a whole fairytale of memories. We create and recreate.

I am a Dutch artist whose work inhabits a multidisciplinary field. I use painting, drawing, photography, performance and video to research themes around identity, memory and loss. Various media and found objects come together in site-specific installations.

Exhibiting internationally, my work is held in high profile collections such as Caldic, Torch gallery, and Alison Jacques gallery. My projects have taken me on residencies in Japan, Syria, Majorca, Indonesia, Venice, and Aldeburgh.

Awards I have received to support my art practice are Startstipendium Fonds BKVB 2000, Project Subsidie Fonds BKVB 2004-2005, winner of the Parallel Prize for Painting 2006, Boise Travelscholarship Slade School of Art 2008.
