2010-11 MA Fine Art, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London, UK
This time I am making in a retrospective way on the surface with more emphasis on sensation and imaginary elements on social status. The subjects discussed in the new work clearly appear much more grand, reflecting on the big questions such as fate, death, ideals, transmigration and living creatures.
In an effort to ensure these works creates tension within what may appear to be the most prosaic circumstances in order to resonate with unnerving atmosphere. The boundaries between fiction and reality may dissolve. Some new realization will be reached as though I am making a series silent suspense works with resolute focus and utmost composure.
I want to make the mundane – monumental. The works are enchanting, somewhat surreal, and painterly – with a focus on drawing especially. Nonetheless, this practice transmutes itself in a variety of modes (including installation and videos), in order to manifest a viewership through an experiential process that goes beyond the displacement of an object. The works does not merely rely on the conceptual shift of things by using of line is strong, and evokes meaning with every stroke.
I have experienced incident in his childhood, when i fell into a ditch infested by insects – at the same time I am showing a drawing of teeth that is steadily colonized by ants. Regarding fear in relation to this childhood event, This leads to a conclusion where i expresses that this concern of my artistic practice is about the dissolution of the boundaries between fiction and reality – hence my eponym “hypochondriac drawings.”
I am advancing the discourse of conceptual art by using drawing to examine the mundane, with the support of my work in installation and videos. however my predominance on the traditional discipline of drawing enables different expectations in artistic creation, and allows for a unique standard to be achieved.
