‘A Thousand Words’
A Thousand Words is a story-creation project by Gabrielle Russell, a filmmaker and Bow Arts Trust live-work scheme artist. She proposes to create short stories (of one thousand words or more) inspired by images.
She is inviting fellow artists on the live-work scheme, and existing residents of the Bow Arts Trust properties to send her an image. This image may have been created by the sender, or may be a photograph, painting, drawing, or a ‘found’ image.
Gabrielle will then write short stories inspired by the images. When all the stories have been created, she will host a storytelling event at which the images will be exhibited and the stories will be told to an audience of artists and non-artist residents of Bow.
This story–creation project forms part of Encounters London 2010 a year-long project in which Gabrielle seeks to create works inspired by collaboration with the artists and non-artists she encounters whilst living in the Bow arts live-work scheme. She hopes that some of the stories created by A Thousand Words might later be developed as film works.
If you have an image that you would like to send to Gabrielle please do so without delay, or if you don’t yet have one, please keep your eyes open in the coming months.
Once you choose an image, you can either email it to: gabrielleden12@yahoo.co.uk
or post it to:
12 Warren House, Bromley High street, Bow, London E3 3HB.
Once an image is collected and stories are created, Gabrielle will send all contributors a draft of the story based on their ‘donated’ image. Please mark your contributions with your name and address or email address.
