“The laser-scan is a way of making a rubbing, an archaeological impression extrapolated from the world and uncovered as a drawing artefact frozen in time.”
The 5 images explore the material history...

Doug Burton graduated from the Royal Academy Schools in 2002. His interest in theoretical physics and cosmology has led him to a residency and exhibition at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland and taking part in the International Year of Astronomy.
The transmission of reality from analogue to the digital space is central to his current practice. Burton is interested in discovering how the physical plane of reality is perceived and understood when that perception goes from our understanding of the analogue world to the confrontation with the digital domain.
Burton's work questions what it is to alter the fabric of physical materiality, creating an artefact out of the commonplace structure and allowing his powers as an artist to augment its state.
