Jack Davies was born and raised on the sleepy Sussex coast spending his days looking for something of meaning and excitement within the mundanity of retirement town living. What he discovered was a series of surreal experiences found in bizarrely irregular situations, as he trekked lonesomely across fields and trespassed on abandoned property at night, arguing the facts of life with himself. These experiences formed the context of his practice for the next five years, sparking an interest in the beat generations ideologies and literature that has inspired him to live a simple, detached life. These themes are reflected in his most recent work that questions the role of the artist in the creative process, surrendering artistic control to the more mechanical or spiritual alter ego.
