Violet Cakes

Bits of nostalgia, little cupcakes have always been a sold-out attraction ever since its humble debut at a modest Saturday stall at Broadway Market in Hackney. 

Proprietor of Violet Cakes and food stylist, Claire Ptak's shop is dominated by its open kitchen, sweet wiffs of baking with further seating out in the  quaint rear garden. 

Besides her signature cupcakes (violet vanilla sponges of delight cupped with butter icing) are the daily popular savoury quiche / sandwich (£4.50 or £6.50 with salad), freshly brewed expresso, home- made flower cordials , crumble-topped muffins with cherries and raspberries alongside dark caramel made with sea salt. 

Violet is a small cake company based in East London. Best known for American-style cupcakes,  the cupcakes are made with limited edition buttercream icings that change with the seasons. Chocolate or vanilla sponge cakes are baked with organic flour, sugar, milk and eggs.
